A search for the decay $B^0$ → $\phiμ^+μ^–$ is performed using proton-proton collisions at centre-of-mass energies of 7, 8, and 13 TeV collected by the LHCb experiment and corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 9 fb –1 . No evidence for the $B^0$ → $\phiμ^+μ^–$ decay is found and an upper limit on the branching fraction, excluding the $\phi$ and charmonium regions in the dimuon spectrum, of 4.4 × 10 –3 at a 90% credibility level, relative to that of the $B^0_s$ → $\phiμ^+μ^–$ branching fraction and assuming a phase-space model, the absolute branching fraction of the $B^0$ → $\phiμ^+μ^–$ in the full q 2 range is determined to be less than 3.2 x 10 –9 at a 90% credibility level.

The $Ξ_{cc}^{++}$ →$Ξ_c^{'+}π^+$ decay is observed using proton-proton collisions collected by the LHCb experiment at a centre-of-mass energy of 13 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 5.4 fb –1 . The $Ξ_{cc}^{++}$ →$Ξ_c^{'+}π^+$ decay is reconstructed partially, where the photon from the $Ξ_c^{'+}$ →$Ξ^+_cγ$ decay is not reconstructed and the $ρK^-π^+$ final state of the $Ξ^+_c$ baryon is employed. The $Ξ_{cc}^{++}$ →$Ξ_c^{'+}π^+$ branching fraction relative to that of the $Ξ_{cc}^{++}$ →$Ξ_c^+π^+$ decay is measured to be 1.41 ± 0.17 ± 0.10, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second systematic.

A study of B+ → J/ψηK + decays, followed by J/ψ → μ + μ – and η → γγ, is performed using a dataset collected with the LHCb detector in proton-proton collisions at centre-of-mass energies of 7, 8 and 13 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 9 fb –1 The J/ψη mass spectrum is investigated for contributions from charmonia and charmonium-like states. Evidence is found for the B + →(ψ2(3823) → J/ψη)K + and B + → (ψ(4040) → J/ψη)K + decays with significance of 3.4 and 4.7 standard deviations, respectively. This constitutes the first evidence for the ψ 2 (3823) → J/ψη decay.
We report on new flavor tagging algorithms developed to determine the quark-flavor content of bottom (B) mesons at Belle II. The algorithms provide essential inputs for measurements of quark-flavor mixing and charge-parity violation. We validate and evaluate the performance of the algorithms using hadronic B decays with flavor-specific final states reconstructed in a data set corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 62.8fb -1 , collected at the Υ(4S) resonance with the Belle II detector at the SuperKEKB collider. We measure the total effective tagging efficiency to be ε eff = (30.0 ± 1.2(stat) ± 0.4(syst))% for a category-based algorithm and ε eff = (28.8 ± 1.2(stat) ± 0.4(syst))% for a deep learning-based algorithm.
The multihadron decays $Λ^0_b$ → $D+ρπ-π-$ and $Λ^0_b$ → $D^*+ρπ-π-$ are observed in data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3 fb -1 , collected in proton-proton collisions at centre-of-mass energies of 7 and 8 TeV by the LHCb detector. Using the decay $Λ^0_b$ → $Λ^+_cπ^+π^-π^-$ as a normalisation channel, the ratio of branching fractions is measured to be $\frac {\mathcal{B} ( Λ^0_b → D^+ρπ^-π^-)} {\mathcal{B} (Λ^0_b → Λ^0_cπ^+π^-π^-)}$ x $\frac{\mathcal{B} (D^+ → K^-π^+π^+)} {\mathcal{B}(Λ^o_c → ρK^-π^-)}$ = (%.35 ± 0.21 ± 0.16)%, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second systematic. The ratio of branching fractions for the $Λ^0_b$ → $D^{*+}ρπ^-π^-$ and $Λ^0_b$ → $D^+ρπ^-π^-$ decays is found to be $\frac {\mathcal{B} ( Λ^0_b → D^{*+}ρπ^-π^-)} {\mathcal{B} (Λ^0_b → D^+ρπ^-π^-)}$ X ($\mathcal{B} (D^{*+}→ D^+π^0)$ + $\mathcal{B} (D^{*+}→ D^+γ)$) = (61.3 ± 4.3 ± 4.0)%.

Searches for rare ${B}_s^0$ and $B^0$ decays into four muons are performed using proton-proton collision data recorded by the LHCb experiment, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 9 fb –1 . Direct decays and decays via light scalar and $J/ψ$ resonances are considered. No evidence for the six decays searched for is found and upper limits at the 95% confidence level on their branching fractions ranging between 1.8 x 10 –10 and 2.6 x 10 –9 are set.
We present a measurement of the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa unitarity triangle angle φ 3 (also known as γ) using a model-independent Dalitz plot analysis of B + → D($ {K}_S^0 $h + h – )h + , where D is either a D o or D o ¯ meson and h is either a π or K. This is the first measurement that simultaneously uses Belle and Belle II data, combining samples corresponding to integrated luminosities of 711 fb –1 and 128 fb –1 , respectively. All data were accumulated from energy-asymmetric e + e – collisions at a centre-of-mass energy corresponding to the mass of the Υ(4S) resonance. We measure φ 3 = (78.4 ± 11.4 ± 0.5 ± 1.0)°, where the first uncertainty is statistical, the second is the experimental systematic uncertainty and the third is from the uncertainties on external measurements of the D-decay strong-phase parameters.
We present the novel implementation of a non-differentiable metric approximation and a corresponding loss-scheduling aimed at the search for new particles of unknown mass in high energy physics experiments. We call the loss-scheduling, based on the minimisation of a figure-of-merit related function typical of particle physics, a Punzi-loss function, and the neural network that utilises this loss function a Punzi-net. We show that the Punzi-net outperforms standard multivariate analysis techniques and generalises well to mass hypotheses for which it was not trained. This is achieved by training a single classifier that provides a coherent and optimal classification of all signal hypotheses over the whole search space. Our result constitutes a complementary approach to fully differentiable analyses in particle physics. We implemented this work using PyTorch and provide users full access to a public repository containing all the codes and a training example.
A combination of measurements sensitive to the CP violation angle γ of the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa unitarity triangle and to the charm mixing parameters that describe oscillations between D 0 and $ \overline{D} $ 0 mesons is performed. Results from the charm and beauty sectors, based on data collected with the LHCb detector at CERN’s Large Hadron Collider, are combined for the first time. This method provides an improvement on the precision of the charm mixing parameter y by a factor of two with respect to the current world average. The charm mixing parameters are determined to be $ x=\left({0.400}_{-0.053}^{+0.052}\right)\% $ and y = $ \left({0.630}_{-0.030}^{+0.033}\right)\% $. The angle γ is found to be γ = ($ 65.4_{-4.2}^{+3.8} $)° and is the most precise determination from a single experiment.

From April to July 2018, a data sample at the peak energy of the Υ(4S) resonance was collected with the Belle II detector at the SuperKEKB electron-positron collider. This is the first data sample of the Belle II experiment. Using Bhabha and digamma events, we measure the integrated luminosity of the data sample to be (496.3±0.3±3.0)pb –1 , where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second is systematic. This work provides a basis for future luminosity measurements at Belle II.
