Portable 90 degree proof loading device

A hydraulically actuated device is described for applying a test load to a bearing or the like to prove the integrity of its mounting or staking within a bore in a housing such as gear case. To accommodate limited access situations, the device is constructed in a right angle configuration in which a hydraulic cylinder applies axial pressure to a first thrust rod assemly which includes a first thrust rod through a threated spindle driving a linearly translated cam. Cam follower wheel transfers the translation to a second thrust rod assembly which includes a horizontal shaft and a spindle within a cross-arm housing portion and a tubular housing portion. The same second thrust direction applies the bearing loading in either of two directions depending upon the shape of the interface parts. The interface parts can bear on the bearing from either side with respect to the bearing mounting structural part.

Portable Roller Staking Tool

Staking tool compact and portable. Tool combines clamping and staking operations in single unit. Tool clamps workpiece (a bearing or bushing), alines it, and stakes on of flat faces. Used for most roller staking operations which acess both faces of workpiece.

Testing Bearings in Tight Spaces

Portable tool checks bushings and bearings in hard-to-reach places to ensure they are properly staked. Actuator plate with surfaces at 45 degrees to hydraulic cylinder shaft turns push or pull perpendicular to original direction. Tool makes unnecessary to disassemble equipment to gain access to parts.

Staked Bearing Removal Tool

Tool with assembled components expedites bearing replacement in aircraft, ground vehicles, and other applications. New tool cuts lip on one side to facilitate bearing replacement. After bearing retaining lip is cut away, bearing pressed out. Tool makes it possible to replace bearings without disassembling structure.

Adjustable base for centering staked bearings

Adjustable base permits housing and race to be supported separately so that unequal widths can be accounted for and bearing staked on center. If race is centered and staked on flat base and housing and race are not same width, then offset may occur and bearing will be set off center.
