We have studied systematically the effect of microwave irradiation on the temperature dependent resistivity (R(I) and the current-voltage (I-V) characteristics of YBa2Gu3O(7 - x) (YBCO) bicrystalline grain boundary weak-links (GBWL's), with grain boundary of three different tilt angles. The superconducting transition temperature, T(sub c), has significant enhancement upon microwave irradiation. The microwave enhanced T(sub c) is increased as a function of incident microwave power, but limited to an optimum power level. The GBWL's of 45 deg tilt boundary has shown to be most sensitive to the microwave irradiation power, and the GBWL's of 36.8 deg tilt boundary has displayed a moderate response. In contrast, no enhancement of T(sub c) was observed in the GBWL's of 24 deg tilt boundary, as well as in the uniform films. Under the microwave irradiation, the R(T) dependent is hystertic as the transition taken from superconducting state to normal state and vice versa. Mechanisms associated with the redistribution of nonequilibrium quasiparticles under microwave irradiation are discussed.
The cascaded discrete-time state-space representation of a cascaded continuous-time system with fractional input delays is established. Based on the time-delay digital modelling, a practically implementable ideal state reconstructor is also established such that system states are exactly reconstructed via the measurement histories of inputs and outputs without a state observer. By utilizing the blockpulse function approximation the digital modelling of cascaded continuous-time systems with fractional input delays can be carried out, and an artificial input design method is proposed to determine the state feedback gain. Thus the practically implementable digital control law can be established for digital control of time-delay sampled-data systems. An illustrative example is shown to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.
Two dimensional geostrophic turbulence driven by a random force is investigated. Based on the Liouville equation, which simulates the primitive hydrodynamical equations, a group-kinetic theory of turbulence is developed and the kinetic equation of the scaled singlet distribution is derived. The kinetic equation is transformed into an equation of spectral balance in the equilibrium and non-equilibrium states. Comparison is made between the propagators and the Green's functions in the case of the non-asymptotic quasi-linear equation to prove the equivalence of both kinds of approximations used to describe perturbed trajectories of plasma turbulence. The microdynamical state of fluid turbulence is described by a hydrodynamical system and transformed into a master equation analogous to the Vlasov equation for plasma turbulence. The spectral balance for the velocity fluctuations of individual components shows that the scaled pressure strain correlation and the cascade transfer are two transport functions that play the most important roles.
