Modular covariance and uniqueness of $ J\overline{T}$ deformed CFTs

We study families of two dimensional quantum field theories, labeled by a dimensionful parameter μ, that contain a holomorphic conserved U(1) current J(z). We assume that these theories can be consistently defined on a torus, so their partition sum, with a chemical potential for the charge that couples to J, is modular covariant. We further require that in these theories, the energy of a state at finite μ is a function only of μ, and of the energy, momentum and charge of the corresponding state at μ = 0, where the theory becomes conformal. We show that under these conditions, the torus partition sum of the theory at μ = 0 uniquely determines the partition sum (and thus the spectrum) of the perturbed theory, to all orders in μ, to be that of a $μJ\bar{T}$ deformed conformal field theory (CFT). We derive a flow equation for the $J\bar{T}$ deformed partition sum, and use it to study non-perturbative effects. We find non-perturbative ambiguities for any non-zero value of μ, and comment on their possible relations to holography.

Modular invariance and uniqueness of $T\overline{T} $ deformed CFT

Any two dimensional quantum field theory that can be consistently defined on a torus is invariant under modular transformations. In this paper we study families of quantum field theories labeled by a dimensionful parameter t, that have the additional property that the energy of a state at finite t is a function only of t and of the energy and momentum of the corresponding state at t = 0, where the theory becomes conformal. We show that under this requirement, the partition sum of the theory at t = 0 uniquely determines the partition sum (and thus the spectrum) of the perturbed theory, to all orders in t, to be that of a $T\bar{T}$ deformed CFT. Non-perturbatively, we find that for one sign of t (for which the energies are real) the partition sum is uniquely determined, while for the other sign we find non-perturbative ambiguities. We characterize these ambiguities and comment on their possible relations to holography.

Charged structure constants from modularity

We derive a universal formula for the average heavy-heavy-light structure constants for 2d CFTs with non-vanishing u(1) charge. The derivation utilizes the modular properties of one-point functions on the torus. Refinements in N = 2 SCFTs, show that the resulting Cardy-like formula for the structure constants has precisely the same shifts in the central charge as that of the thermodynamic entropy found earlier. This analysis generalizes the recent results by Kraus and Maloney for CFTs with an additional global u(1) symmetry. Our results at large central charge are also shown to match with computations from the holographic dual, which suggest that the averaged CFT three-point coefficient also serves as a useful probe of detecting black hole hair.

Monstrous entanglement

The Monster CFT plays an important role in moonshine and is also conjectured to be the holographic dual to pure gravity in AdS3. We investigate the entanglement and Rényi entropies of this theory along with other extremal CFTs. The Rényi entropies of a single interval on the torus are evaluated using the short interval expansion. Each order in the expansion contains closed form expressions in the modular parameter. The leading terms in the q-series are shown to precisely agree with the universal corrections to Rényi entropies at low temperatures. Furthermore, these results are shown to match with bulk computations of Rényi entropy using the one-loop partition function on handlebodies. We also explore some features of Rényi entropies of two intervals on the plane.
