A Three-component Scattering Model for Polarimetric SAR Data

Classification, decomposition and modeling of polarimetric SAR data has received a great deal of attention in the recent literature. The objective behind these efforts is to better understand the scattering mechanisms which give rise to the polarimetric signatures seen in SAR image data.

Verification of Airborne Radar and Radiometer Measurements Obtained in TOGA COARE

The NASA/JPL Airborne Rain Mapping Radar (ARMAR) on board the NASA DC-8 aircraft, several airborne multi-channel radiometers on board the NASA ER-2 aircraft, and the doppler radars on board the NOAA P-3 aircraft were deployed for rainfall observations collected over the Western Pacific Ocean during the TOGA/COARE experiment in January and February of 1993. Results of rain system observations are given.

On Parametrizing the Rain Drop Size Distribution

This paper addresses the problem of finding a parametric for for the rain drop size distribution which 1) is an appropriate model for tropical rainfall, and 2) involves statistically independent parameters.

Airborne and Spaceborne Cloud Radar Designs

This paper presents some crucial design parameters and a strawman system design for a nadir-looking 94-GHz spaceborne cloud profiling radar.

ARMAR Observations during TOGA/COARE

The NASA/JPL Airborne Rain Mapping Radar (ARMAR) was deployed for rainfall observations during TOGA/COARE on the NASA DC-8 aircraft. A total of approx. 30 hours of rain profiling measurements were collected over the Western Pacific Ocean during January and February 1993.
