A modified form of Ohm's law, describing electric currents through ion tracks, is presented as a tool for future theoretical modeling efforts related to charge collection from ion tracks in silicon devices.
Funneling under steady-state conditions is investigated, because this problem is simple enough to be treated rigorously and provides some qualitative insights into the more difficult transient problem.
A graphical method is presented for the calculation of charge collection by diffusion from an ion track in a silicon device. Graphical data are provided for several device geometries. The ion track location/orientation is arbitrary.
