Multi-Spectra, Multi-Species, Multi-Sensors (MUSES): Builds off of heritage from the Tropospheric Emission Spectrometer (TES) optimal estimation (OE) algorithm to combine a priori and satellite data, including rigorous error analysis diagnostics and observation operators needed for trend analysis, climate model evaluation, and data assimilation; has generic design to incorporate forward model radiances from hyperspectral measurements from multiple sensors into the joint retrieval algorithm.

This paper describes the validation of stratospheric C10 measurements by the MLS on the UARS. The comparisons done to date between MLS and other measurements of C10 indicate general agreement to within the estimated MLS uncertainties and the uncertainties of the comparative measurements.
This paper describes the evolution of stratospheric ozone, as observed by the Microwave Limb Sounder on board the Upper Atmosphere Research Satellite from August 14 through September 20, 1992, focusing on the polar regions.
Subsolidus lithospheric thinning by mantle plumes may be involved in the creation of swells, hotspots, and rifts. Among the major questions concerning this process are the timescale on which it occurs and the structure of the plumes. The lithosphere is known to have been substantially thinned in 10 Ma or less. Current studies are focused on the lithospheric thinning by time-dependent plumes hypothesized to have large temperature differences across them.
