Modification to the MED and LED source-encoding circuitry for the IMP H and J spacecraft

The circuitry and fabrication changes made on the MED and LED electronics cards for the IMP H and J are reported. Except for the noted changes, the circuitry and module-matrix arrangement is essentially the same as the IMP-1 electronics cards described. In addition, analysis of the IMP-1 transmitted data indicated the desirability of incorporating additional coincident-event threshold detection levels to further discriminate between received particles.

A 100,000 pulse height analyzer for use in High Energy Cosmic Ray Experiments (HECRE) on high altitude balloon flights

A description is given of a wide dynamic range pulse height analyzer system developed for use on High Energy Cosmic Ray Experiment (HECRE) Balloon Flights. A wide dynamic range of 100,000 is obtained by extending the range of a basic 1024 channel analyzer through the use of multiple ranges and range selection. The system described here contains four 100,000 pulse height analyzers. Each 100,000 pulse height analyzer consists of a group of cordwood welded modules mounted and interconnected on a printed circuit card. Four of these card assemblies, the required clock drive circuitry (discrete components mounted and interconnected on a separate card) and three input-output connectors are interconnected and mounted on the system board.

Wide-range pulse-height discriminator

Improved pulse amplitude discriminator has discriminator level in millivolt range, permits simple adjustment over wide range, and is stable within one percent at temperatures between minus 20 degrees and plus 60 degrees C. The discriminator responds to narrow pulses /500 nsec/, draws little power /milliwatts/, and requires simple circuitry.

Four parameter pulse height analyzer

Circuit design modification of converter and readout system by addition of charge amplifiers at inputs and by addition of fourth D channel- four-parameter pulse height analyzer

PARAMETRIC AMPLIFIER

Simple circuit produces high-speed, fixed duration pulses

Circuit generates an output pulse of fixed width from a variable width input pulse. The circuit consists of a tunnel diode in parallel with an inductance driven by a constant current generator. It is used for pulsed communication equipment design.
