Bayesian optimized collection strategies for fatigue strength testing

Abstract A statistical framework is presented enabling optimal sampling and analysis of constant life fatigue data. Protocols using Bayesian maximum entropy sampling are built based on conventional staircase and stress step methods, reducing the requirement of prior knowledge for data collection. The Bayesian Staircase method shows improved parameter estimation efficiency, and the Bayesian Stress Step method shows equal accuracy to the standard method at larger step size allowing experimentalists to lessen concerns of loading history. Statistical methods for determining model suitability are shown, highlighting the influence of protocol. Experimental validation is performed, showing the applicability of the methods in laboratory testing.

A Roadmap Toward a Sustainable Aviation Ecosystem

This report outlines a holistic view of pathways to a sustainable aviation ecosystem, focusing on low-net-carbon aircraft energy carriers (fuels), airport ecosystems (airports and bases), and developments in sustainable aircraft components (aircraft). Taking this holistic ecosystem perspective, we identify critical components that contribute to sustainable energy solutions necessary to achieve deep decarbonization of the aviation industry, as well as the integrated energy system interfaces that must be comprehensively understood, planned for, and realized. Further, we outline necessary R&D needs to achieve sustainability across the aviation ecosystem, including advancing breakthrough innovations to rapidly achieve scalable solutions, with attention to their cross-sectoral dependencies and implications.

Mexico Clean Energy Report

This report provides an assessment of Mexico's clean energy resource potential and pathways for rapidly deploying renewable energy technologies to enable Mexico to reach its goal of 35% renewable energy by 2024 within the current legal and regulatory framework. An appendix to the report includes the results of the 2024 Renewable Energy Integration Study, and technology chapters on wind, solar, geothermal, hydropower, transport electrification, and green hydrogen, detailing current state, resource potential, and deployment opportunities and recommendations. Additional sections include transmission, a section on the challenges and solutions for the integration of variable generation resources, and a summary of benefits.
