Neutron spectral measurements at the BNL NSLS-II synchrotron facility

During the first week of August 2022, Tim Gildea of Los Alamos National Laboratory’s (LANL) RP-SVS group performed a series of neutron spectral measurements at the National Synchrotron Light Source II (NSLS-II) 3GeV facility located at Brookhaven National Lab (BNL)1 . These measurements were conducted under Memorandum Purchase Order (MPO) 413911 with the objective of gaining an accurate understanding of the photoneutron fields generated under normal and selected fault conditions. The spectral data collected during the course of the study was analyzed at LANL and the results form the basis of this report.

Evaluation report on the Thermo Scientific TruDose (neutron, gamma) EPD3

This report summarizes an evaluation study on the Thermo Scientific TruDose n/γ EPD3 by LANL’s RP-SVS group. Two EPD3s were received for assessment (SNs 7500100 and 7500108) along with an EPD3 desktop reader. The evaluation included intercomparisons with Thermo’s N2 EPD which is in wide circulation at LANL but is no longer commercially available. A favourable assessment of the TruDose EPD3 would help support it as a viable option to replace the N2 EPD. The data and observations included in this report could also serve as the basis of a Technical Basis Document for the use of the EPD3 at LANL.

An Evaluation of the ASM2000 software

The ASM2000 software is based on the NetCAM3 software (currently installed at RLUOB) with the main difference being enhanced multi-CAM head support. Therefore, as the NetCAM3 software has been previously tested, the current evaluation concentrated on performance related to multi-head operation. In addition, bug fixes and improvements to prior versions of the NetCAM3 code were incorporated into the ASM2000 V2.0.0 software package.
