TOPEX/Poseidon is a joint American/French ocean topography experiment conducted by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and the Centre National d'Etudes Spatiales (CNES)...Specifically, the paper first presents the present task configuration. Changes implemented after the prime mission are then discussed. Four areas of statistical performance are emhaszed and presented in detail...finally, the paper addresses problems encountered and lessons learned.
Satellite altimetry must measure variations in ocean topography with cm-level accuracy. The TOPEX/Poseidon mission is designed to do this by measuring the radial component of the orbit with an accuracy of 13 cm or better RMS. Recent advances, however, have improved this accuracy by about an order of magnitude.
The flight data have been combined at JPL with ground GPS data from a global network to routinely produce precise TOPEX/Poseidon orbits.

Results of operational orbit determination, performed as part of the TOPEX/POSEIDON (T/P) Global Positioning System (GPS) demonstration experiment, are presented in this article. Elements of this experiment include the GPS satellite constellation, the GPS demonstration receiver on board T/P, six ground GPS receivers, the GPS Data Handling Facility, and the GPS Data Processing Facility (GDPF). Carrier phase and P-code pseudorange measurements from up to 24 GPS satellites to the seven GPS receivers are processed simultaneously with the GDPF software MIRAGE to produce orbit solutions of T/P and the GPS satellites. Daily solutions yield subdecimeter radial accuracies compared to other GPS, LASER, and DORIS precision orbit solutions.
TOPEX/Poseidon(T/P) is a joint altimetric mission of U.S. NASA and French CNES design launched August 10, 1992. There are a variety of tracking systems on T/P for both operational and precise orbit determination.
Results of orbit determination for the TOPEX/Poseidon(T/P)mission using Global Positioning Satellites(GPS)during Anti-Spoofing (A-S) activities are presented in this paper.
