Spin-orbit entanglement in the Color Glass Condensate

We compute the spin-orbit correlations of quarks and gluons at small-x and show that the helicity and the orbital angular momentum of individual partons are strongly anti-aligned even in unpolarized or spinless hadrons and nuclei. Combined with the fact that gluons in the Color Glass Condensate are linearly polarized, our finding indicates that the helicity and the orbital angular momentum of single gluons are maximally entangled in a quantum mechanical sense.

Twist analysis of the spin-orbit correlation in QCD

We present a QCD analysis of the twist-three parton distribution functions associated with the spin-orbit correlation of quarks and gluons in spin-$\frac{1}{2}$ and spin-0 hadrons. We derive exact non-perturbative identities decomposing the spin-orbit correlations into the Wandzura-Wilczek part and the genuine twist-three part. In the spin-$\frac{1}{2}$ case, the result is partially related to the kinematical twist-three part of the g T (x) distribution familiar in the context of transverse spin physics. We use these identities to obtain a novel longitudinal momentum sum rule which may be regarded as the momentum version of the Jaffe-Manohar spin sum rule. We explore the physical interpretation of the sum rule and make a connection to the color Lorentz forces and their associated potential energies.

Workshop on Generalized Parton Distributions for Nucleon Tomography in the EIC Era

The aim of the workshop is to examine the theoretical components that need to be incorporated, challenges and opportunities in different LQCD formalisms for computing hadron properties non-perturbatively from the underlying fundamental theory, and the requirements for an analysis framework of experimental data. The outcome of the workshop will be a white paper, and the establishment of a collaborative effort aimed at tackling these challenges and ensuring that the resulting framework can be applied across the emerging theoretical and experimental programs.

Predictions for the sPHENIX physics program

sPHENIX is a next-generation detector experiment at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider, designed for a broad set of jet and heavy-flavor probes of the Quark-Gluon Plasma created in heavy ion collisions. In anticipation of the commissioning and first data-taking of the detector in 2023, a RIKEN-BNL Research Center (RBRC) workshop was organized to collect theoretical input and identify compelling aspects of the physics program. Here this paper compiles theoretical predictions from the workshop participants for jet quenching, heavy flavor and quarkonia, cold QCD, and bulk physics measurements at sPHENIX.
