Hologram is constructed by taking number of digitized sample points and blending them together to form ''continuous'' picture. New system selects better set of sample points resulting in improved hologram from same amount of information.
Summary of the generalized sampling theory developed by Peterson (1963) and others, which treated multidimensional impulse-modulation periodic sampling, applicable to any multidimensional process. Particular attention is given to the two-dimensional case (N = 2) for which applications in optical systems are proposed. The efficiency of sampling geometries, and digital holography and sampling theory are considered.
