Microprocessor-based detector for PSK commands

Command detector unit operates over wide range of data rates and signal levels in space environment. It consists of signal conditioning, read-only memory, random-access memory, and digital processor. Entire unit fits on single multilayer printed-wiring board.

Hybrid receiver conceptual design and test report

The Hybrid Receiver described uses an acquisition and demodulation scheme tailored to the Jovian environment. The large Doppler offsets expected during initial acquisition led to development of the Hilbert Acquisition Aid, which provides for rapid acquisition for low signal to noise densities.

A class of programmable satellite receivers

The primary purpose of programmable satellite receivers is to provide flexibility in application through digital control of the important functions of the receiver. This permits the acquisition and demodulation of medium to very low data rates in widely varying communications environments and over a wide range of modulation schemes. The first application of the programmable concept is in the high-reliability, low-power NASA Standard Command Detector Unit. A second programmable receiver has been designed and breadboarded for the Jupiter Orbiter Probe or Galileo mission.
