Multiple Ion Temperatures
We consider the implementation of multiple ion temperatures in an existing rad-hydro code. Particular issues which arise including splitting of the energy deposition terms including those involved in modeling shocks in the hydro; the calculation of thermonuclear burn rates in the presence of different ion temperatures; thermal diffusion with multiple temperatures including the difficulty associate with contact discontinuities; and the thermal coupling between different ions and between the individual ions and the electrons. A few simulations are performed to demonstrate the resulting improved modeling capability.
