Optical studies of gamma-ray burst fields. 3: GRB 790613 and GRB 781124

An optical photometric and proper motion study of the fields of the gamma-ray bursts GRB 790613 and GRB 781124 is presented. No objects were visible on our Charge Coupled Devices (CCD) images inside the GRB 790613 error box. About 15 objects are visible on our CCD images inside the GRB 781124 error box. Two of these objects were found to be faint galaxies. Two stars with sizeable proper motions were identified near, but outside of the GRB 781124 error box. No large proper motion objects were found in the area surrounding the GRB 790613 error box.

Occultations of faint stars by Neptune and its rings - 1992-1999

As Neptune moves from the Galactic plane in the 1990s, fewer of the stars required for occultation studies able to shed light on its rings will be available. The Klemola and Mink (1991) search has been extended to the limits of the plates, where V magnitude is about 15.5, to yield additional possible occultations; these encompass 68 stars for the 1992-1999 period. Some of the stars have K magnitudes greater than 11.

Occultations by Uranus and Neptune - 1991-1999

The results of a photographic plate search are presented for stars as faint as mv = 14 which may be occulted by Uranus or Neptune or their rings between January 1, 1991 and December 31, 1999. Circumstances for the closest approach of Uranus to 76 stars and Neptune to 18 stars are presented. Occultations by Neptune's ring 'arcs' are predicted in 1992, 1997, and 1999.

Occultations by Pluto and Charon - 1990-1999

The results of a photographic plate search for stars as faint as V = 16 which may be occulted by Pluto or Charon between January 1, 1990 and December 31, 1999 are presented. Circumstances for the closest approach of Pluto to 32 stars and Charon to 28 stars are presented. Photometric information is given for some of the brightest stars found in a search of the Space Telescope Guide Star Catalog for Pluto occultations. Finding charts from Space Telescope Guide Star plates are provided for some of the best events. The brightest star (V = 12.7) may be occulted by both Pluto and Charon on September 26, 1999.
