Boundary-fitted coordinate systems for arbitrary computational regions

The method of Smith and Wiegel was used to generate meshes for mixer lobes and subsonic inlets that are compatible with flow analysis codes requiring a boundary fitted coordinate system. Successful application of this mesh generator required development of procedures to distribute the mesh points along the boundaries, to regulate the dependence of the connecting function to the local boundary slope, to concentrate the mesh into regions of special interest, and to modify the mesh grid so that it possessed a smooth progression of cell metrics and cell volumes in all directions. The method of Smith and Wiegel when coupled with the extensions mentioned above has proven to be easy to use and control for the inlet and mixer lobe geometries investigated.

Computer code for estimating installed performance of aircraft gas turbine engines. Volume 2: Users manual

A computerized method which utilizes the engine performance data and estimates the installed performance of aircraft gas turbine engines is presented. This installation includes: engine weight and dimensions, inlet and nozzle internal performance and drag, inlet and nacelle weight, and nacelle drag. A user oriented description of the program input requirements, program output, deck setup, and operating instructions is presented.

Computer code for estimating installed performance of aircraft gas turbine engines. Volume 3: Library of maps

A computerized method which utilizes the engine performance data and estimates the installed performance of aircraft gas turbine engines is presented. This installation includes: engine weight and dimensions, inlet and nozzle internal performance and drag, inlet and nacelle weight, and nacelle drag. The use of two data base files to represent the engine and the inlet/nozzle/aftbody performance characteristics is discussed. The existing library of performance characteristics for inlets and nozzle/aftbodies and an example of the 1000 series of engine data tables is presented.
