Center-line velocity decay in coaxial free jets
The effects of initial nonuniformities in the exit velocity profiles of incompressible coaxial air jets expelled into free air on the fully developed region of the jets is studied experimentally. The primary and annular jet exit velocities were nonuniform, and the average velocity of the primary jet was greater than that of the annular jet. The center-line velocity of the jet in the fully developed region is found to depend on the primary jet exit velocity profile and on the ratio of the central to annular jet average velocities.
