We theoretically study a parallel configuration of two interacting whispering gallery mode optical resonators and show a narrow-band modal structure as a basis for a widely tunable delay line. For the optimum coupling configuration the system can possess an unusually narrow spectral feature with a much narrower bandwidth than the loaded bandwidth of each individual resonator.
This paper compares methods of active stabilization of an optoelectronic microwave oscillator (OEO) based on insertion of a source of optical group delay into an OEO loop. The performance of an OEO stabilized with either a high- optical cavity or an atomic cell is analyzed. We show that the elements play a role of narrow-band microwave filters improving an OEO stability.
We have demonstrated an approach for fabricating a photonic filter with second order response function.
We have built an opto-electronic oscillator (OEO) with a frequency filter implemented by electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT). This internal fundamental frequency reference corresponding to the hyperfine splitting in 87Rb allows for efficient stabilization of the oscillator.

Optical measurements of a gravitational field with sensitivity close to the sensitivity of atomic devices are possible if one detects properties of light after its interaction with optically thick atomic cloud moving freely in the gravity field. A nondestructive detection of a number of ultracold atoms in a cloud as well as tracking of the ground state population distribution of the atoms is possible by optical means.
In this paper, we will describe the development of a new low-jitter pulse generator by combing the two technologies.
We describe new devices based on whispering gallery mode microresonators.
We have demonstrated an approach for fabricating a photonic filter with second order response function. The filter consists of two germania-doped silica microtoroidal or microspherical resonators cascaded in series. We use UV irradiation to tune the mode of one microcavity to bring it close to the mode of the second microcavity. This approach produces a filter function with much sharper rolloff than can be obtained with the individual microresonators.

We demonstrate an electro-optic microwave modulator with milliWatt control power and a sub-microWatt photonic receiver based on triply-resonant three-wave mixing in high-Q toroidal lithium niobate cavities with whispering-gallery (WG) modes.
We describe frequency stability measurements of two Hg-ion clocks based upon linear 12-pole shuttle ion traps.
We propose a scheme of a resonant cw microwave-optical parametric oscillator based on high-Q whispering gallery modes excited in a nonlinear dielectric cavity. Such an oscillator has an extremely low threshold and stable operation, and may be used in spectroscopy and metrology.
We show that a nondegenerate multi-frequency parametric oscillator has different properties compared with an usual three-wave parametric oscillator. We consider, as an example, a scheme of a resonant cw monolithic microwave-optical parametric oscillator based on high-Q whispering gallery modes excited in a nonlinear dielectric cavity. In this paper we recall main properties of usual three-mode OPO, discuss four-mode OPO, study conditions of generation of a frequency comb in all-resonant OPO with two-frequency optical pumping, and discuss stability of a cavity with moving mirrors.
In this paper, we will describe some of the underlying principles of QGC, discuss its potential capability, and report on the progress of our hardware development to date.
