Constraints on the U ( 1 ) B − L model from global QCD analysis

We perform the first global QCD analysis of electron-nucleon deep-inelastic scattering and related high-energy data including the beyond the Standard Model U ( 1 ) B − L gauge boson, Z ′ . Contrary to the dark photon case, we find no improvement in the χ 2 relative to the baseline result. The finding allows us to place exclusion limits on the coupling constant of the Z ′ with mass in the range M Z ′ = 2 to 160 GeV. Published by the American Physical Society 2025

New Data-Driven Constraints on the Sign of Gluon Polarization in the Proton

Recently, the possible existence of negative gluon helicity Δ g has been observed to be compatible with existing empirical constraints, including from jet production in polarized proton-proton collisions at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider, and lattice QCD data on polarized gluon Ioffe time distributions. We perform a new global analysis of polarized parton distributions in the proton with new constraints from the high- x region of deep-inelastic scattering (DIS). A dramatic reduction in the quality of the fit for the negative Δ g replicas compared to those with positive Δ g suggests that the negative Δ g solution cannot simultaneously account for high- x polarized DIS data along with lattice and polarized jet data. Extraction of the neutron F 2 structure function from inclusive proton and deuteron deep-inelastic scattering data

The available world deep-inelastic scattering (DIS) data on proton and deuteron structure functions F 2 p , F 2 d , and their ratios are leveraged to extract the free neutron F 2 n structure function, the F 2 n / F 2 p ratio, and associated uncertainties using the latest nuclear effect calculations in the deuteron. Special attention is devoted to the normalization of the proton and deuteron experimental datasets and to the treatment of correlated systematic errors, as well as the quantification of procedural and theoretical uncertainties. The extracted F 2 n dataset is utilized to evaluate the Q 2 dependence of the Gottfried sum rule and the nonsinglet F 2 p − F 2 n moments. To facilitate replication of our study, as well as for general applications, we provide a comprehensive DIS database including all recent Jefferson Lab 6 GeV measurements, the extracted F n 2 , a modified CTEQ-JLab global parton distribution function fit named CJ15nlo_mod, and grids with calculated proton, neutron, and deuteron DIS structure functions. Gluon helicity from global analysis of experimental data and lattice QCD Ioffe time distributions

We perform a new global analysis of spin-dependent parton distribution functions with the inclusion of Ioffe time pseudodistributions computed in lattice QCD (LQCD), which are directly sensitive to the gluon helicity distribution, Δ g . These lattice data have an analogous relationship to parton distributions as do experimental cross sections, and can be readily included in global analyses. We focus in particular on the constraining capability of current LQCD data on the sign of Δ g at intermediate parton momentum fractions x , which was recently brought into question by analysis of data in the absence of parton positivity constraints. We find that present LQCD data cannot discriminate between positive and negative Δ g solutions, although significant changes in the solutions for both the gluon and quark sectors are observed.
