Melting down a tetraquark: D*D(*) interactions and T c c ( 3875 ) + in a hot environment

We discuss the modification of the properties of the tetraquark-like and its heavy quark spin partner, immersed in a hot bath of pions. We consider these exotic states as purely isoscalar DD* and D*D* S-wave bound states, respectively. Finite temperature effects are incorporated through the D and D* state-of-the-art thermal spectral functions calculated in [G. Montana et al., Phys. Rev. D, 102 (2020) 096020], using the imaginary-time formalism. We find important modifications of the DD* and D*D* scattering amplitudes already for MeV, and show that the hot-bath lineshapes of these tetraquark-like states strongly depend on their Weinberg molecular content. We find that the thermal and spectral functions change more rapidly with temperature for high molecular probabilities P0. For large values of P0, the widths significantly increase with temperature, leading to the melting of these exotic states for temperatures larger than 80 MeV. For small molecular components, the changes in the spectral functions of these states due to temperature become significantly less important. All these results show that any future experimental determination of the D(*)D* scattering amplitudes at finite temperature will provide valuable insights into the molecular content of the and exotics.

Toward a unified description of hadron scattering at all energies

The construction of general amplitudes satisfying symmetries and S -matrix constraints has been the primary tool in studying the spectrum of hadrons for over half a century. In this work, we present a new parametrization, which can fulfill many expectations of S -matrix and Regge theory and connects the essential physics of hadron scattering in the resonance region and in asymptotic limits. In this construction, dynamical information is entirely contained in Regge trajectories that generalize resonance poles in the complex energy plane to moving poles in the angular momentum plane. We highlight the salient features of the model, compare with existing literature on dispersive and dual amplitudes, and benchmark the formalism with an initial numerical application to the ρ and σ / f 0 ( 500 ) mesons in π π scattering. X Y Z spectroscopy at electron-hadron facilities. III. Semi-inclusive processes with vector exchange

Inclusive production processes will be important for the first observations of X Y Z states at new generation electron-hadron colliders, as they generally benefit from larger cross sections than their exclusive counterparts. We make predictions of semi-inclusive photoproduction of the χ c 1 ( 1 P ) and X ( 3872 ) , whose peripheral production is assumed to be dominated by vector exchanges. We validate the applicability of vector meson dominance in the axial-vector charmonium sector and calculate production rates at center-of-mass energies relevant for future experimental facilities. We find the semi-inclusive cross sections near the threshold to be enhanced by a factor of ∼ 2 – 3 compared to the exclusive reaction and well-suited for a first observation in photoproduction.
