Celestial gluon amplitudes from the outside in

We show that, given a two-dimensional realization of the celestial OPE in self-dual Yang-Mills, we can find a scalar source around which scattering amplitudes replicate correlation functions computed from the 2D ‘gluon’ operators in a limit where a dynamic massless scalar decouples. We derive conditions on the two-dimensional three-point correlation function so that such a source exists and give two particular examples of this construction, one in which gluons are constructed from vertex operators in the semiclassical limit of Liouville theory and another in which the soft gluons arise from generalized free fields. Finally, we identify a bulk dual to the level of the boundary Kac-Moody algebra and discuss moving beyond the decoupling limit.

Perturbatively exact $w_{1+∞}$ asymptotic symmetry of quantum self-dual gravity

The infinite tower of positive-helicity soft gravitons in any minimally coupled, tree-level, asymptotically flat four-dimensional (4D) gravity was recently shown to generate a w 1+∞ asymptotic symmetry algebra. It is natural to ask whether this classical algebra acquires quantum corrections at loop level. We explore this in quantum self-dual gravity, whose amplitudes acquire known one-loop exact all-plus helicity quantum corrections. We show using collinear splitting formulae that, remarkably, the w 1+∞ algebra persists in quantum self-dual gravity without corrections.

State-operator correspondence in celestial conformal field theory

The bulk-to-boundary dictionary for 4D celestial holography is given a new entry defining 2D boundary states living on oriented circles on the celestial sphere. The states are constructed using the 2D CFT state-operator correspondence from operator insertions corresponding to either incoming or outgoing particles which cross the celestial sphere inside the circle. The BPZ construction is applied to give an inner product on such states whose associated bulk adjoints are shown to involve a shadow transform. Scattering amplitudes are then given by BPZ inner products between states living on the same circle but with opposite orientations. 2D boundary states are found to encode the same information as their 4D bulk counterparts, but organized in a radically different manner.

Massive celestial fermions

In an effort to further the study of amplitudes in the celestial CFT (CCFT), we construct conformal primary wavefunctions for massive fermions. Upon explicitly calculating the wavefunctions for Dirac fermions, we deduce the corresponding transformation of momentum space amplitudes to celestial amplitudes. The shadow wavefunctions are shown to have opposite spin and conformal dimension 2 - Δ. The Dirac conformal primary wave- functions are delta function normalizable with respect to the Dirac inner product provided they lie on the principal series with conformal dimension Δ = 1 + iλ for λ ∈ $\mathbb{R}$. It is shown that there are two choices of a complete basis: single spin J=$\frac{1}{2}$ or J=-$\frac{1}{2}$ and λ ∈ $\mathbb{R}$ or multiple spin J=±$\frac{1}{2}$ and λ $\mathbb{R}$ +∪0 . The massless limit of the Dirac conformal primary wavefunctions is shown to agree with previous literature. The momentum generators on the celestial sphere are derived and, along with the Lorentz generators, form a representation of the Poincaré algebra. Finally, we show that the massive spin-1 conformal primary wavefunctions can be constructed from the Dirac conformal primary wavefunctions using the standard Clebsch-Gordan coefficients. We use this procedure to write the massive spin-$\frac{3}{2}$, Rarita-Schwinger, conformal primary wavefunctions. This provides a prescription for constructing all massive fermionic and bosonic conformal primary wavefunctions starting from spin-$\frac{1}{2}$.
