Recommendations for Updating Liquid Discharged Inventory and Transport Modeling Parameters for Cumulative Impacts Evaluation of Hexavalent Chromium in the 200 West Area

The purpose of this environmental calculation file (ECF) is to document information regarding hexavalent chromium (Cr(VI)) inventory discharged in 200 West Area at the Hanford Site and provide data to support predictive transport through the vadose zone and saturated zone for modeling efforts. This document provides a focused evaluation of historical waste stream data and studies to develop estimates of Cr(VI) inventory, discharge fractions, and transport parameters for the 200 West Area waste sites and tank farms during discharge events and for long-term contaminant releases.

Hanford Site Composite Analysis: Radionuclide Selection for Groundwater Pathway Evaluation

The updated Hanford Site Composite Analysis (CA) (DOE/RL-2019-52, Composite Analysis for Low-Level Waste Disposal in the Hanford Site Central Plateau (FY 2020)) provides an all-pathways dose projection to a hypothetical future member of the public from all planned low-level radioactive waste disposal facilities and potential contributions from all other projected end-state sources of radioactive material left at the Hanford Site following site closure. Its primary purpose is to support the decision-making process of the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) under DOE O 435.1-1, Radioactive Waste Management, related to managing low-level waste disposal facilities at the Hanford Site. A key aspect of conducting a CA is selecting the radionuclides to be analyzed. This document describes the selection process for radionuclides to be included in the quantitative analysis.

Predictive Flow Simulation with the P2R Model for the Composite Analysis Base Case

In order to meet the requirements of U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) in DOE O 435.1 Chg.1, Radioactive Waste Management, a Composite Analysis (CA) must be completed for the Central Plateau at the Hanford Site. The CA requires estimates of fate and transport of radionuclides in the groundwater from multiple sources within the modeling domain. This document details the application of the P2R Model version 8.3 to predict the flow of groundwater on the Central Plateau for the 10,000-year simulation to support the CA. The simulated flow field will support the simulation of fate and transport of contaminants for use in predicting dose as part of the CA.

Mapping the Concentration Distribution of Contaminant Plumes to the Computational Grid of the Plateau to River Model (Ver. 8.3)

This environmental calculation file (ECF) outlines the process conducted for defining the initial condition groundwater plumes for select contaminants of interest (COIs) to the Plateau River model version 8.3 (P2Rv8.3) domain (CP-57037, Model Package Report: Plateau to River Groundwater Model Version 8.3). Various data sources were combined into a single set of files defining plume conditions at time 1/1/2018. The resulting files are intended for use as inputs for transport modeling to support forecasts of the Central Plateau contaminant plume fate and transport.
