22 Na ingrowth originating from fluorine-alpha interactions has been proposed as a chronometer for UF 6 cylinders. Furthermore, these proposals have ignored the prompt 1274 keV gamma-ray contribution from 19 F(α, p). We have shown that this contribution is significant and cannot be ignored when using this as a chronometer for UF 6 .
