Random vibration test of Mars Exploration Rover spacecraft

The primary objective of the random vibration test was to identify any hardware problems, which might compromise the mission. The test objectives, configuration, and requirements are briefly described in this presentation, and a representative sample of the measured data is presented.

Force limits measured on a space shuttle flight

The random vibration forces between a payload and the sidewall of the space shuttle have been measured in flight and compared with the force specifications used in ground vibration tests. The flight data are in agreement with a semi-empirical method, which is widely used to predict vibration test force limits.

Direct Acoustic Test of QuikSCAT Spacecraft

A direct acoustic test was perfomed on the QuikSCAT spacecraft at Ball Aerospace Technology Corporation (BATC) in Boulder, Colorado, in October 1998. The QuikSCAT spacecraft was designed and built by BATC in an accelerated, one-year, program managed by the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center.

Predicting microgravity levels for space station using VAPEPS

The topics are presented in viewgraph form and include: a vibroacoustic payload environment prediction system (VAPEPS); objectives of the JPL space station analysis effort; statistical energy analysis (SEA); VAPEPS Space Station Freedom (SSF) model description; noise control treatments; and SSF microgravity preliminary analysis results.
