Revisiting Dimensionless Parameters Quantifying Film Cooling
This paper describes a dimensional analysis of film cooling effectiveness for crossflow-fed film cooling holes. An additional parameter is required to account for swirl inside the film cooling hole. Computations based on Reynolds-Averaged Navier-Stokes (RANS) show significant improvements in cooling effectiveness when the coolant supply velocity is decreased. NETL experimental data was used to validate these computational results.
