Flavor dependence of unpolarized quark transverse momentum distributions from a global fit

We present an extraction of the unpolarized transverse-momentum-dependent parton distribution and fragmentation functions that takes into account possible differences between quark flavors and final-state hadrons. The extraction is based on experimental measurements from Drell-Yan processes and semi-inclusive deep-inelastic scattering, whose combination is essential to distinguish flavor differences. The analysis is carried out at N 3 LL accuracy. The extracted flavor-dependent distributions give a very good description of the data (χ 2 /N dat = 1.08). The resulting error bands take fully into account also the uncertainties in the determination of the corresponding collinear distributions.

Hadronization dynamics from the spectral representation of the gauge invariant quark propagator

We study the Dirac decomposition of the gauge invariant quark propagator, whose imaginary part describes the hadronization of a quark as this interacts with the vacuum, and relate each of its coefficients to a specific sum rule for the chiral-odd and chiral-even quark spectral functions. Working at first in light-like axial gauge, we obtain a new sum rule for the spectral function associated to the gauge fixing vector, and show that its second moment is in fact equal to zero. Then, we demonstrate that the first moment of the chiral-odd quark spectral function is equal in any gauge to the so-called inclusive jet mass, which is related to the mass of the particles produced in the hadronization of a quark. Finally, we present a gauge-dependent formula that connects the second moment of the chiral-even quark spectral function to invariant mass generation and final state rescattering in the hadronization of a quark.

Unpolarized transverse momentum distributions from a global fit of Drell-Yan and semi-inclusive deep-inelastic scattering data

We present an extraction of unpolarized transverse-momentum-dependent parton distribution and fragmentation functions based on more than two thousand data points from several experiments for two different processes: semi-inclusive deep-inelastic scattering and Drell-Yan production. The baseline analysis is performed using the Monte Carlo replica method and resumming large logarithms at N 3 LL accuracy. The resulting description of the data is very good (χ 2 /N dat = 1.06). For semi-inclusive deep-inelastic scattering, predictions for multiplicities are normalized by factors that cure the discrepancy with data introduced by higher-order perturbative corrections.

Time reversal-odd effects in QCD and beyond

In this paper we will describe a parallel between phenomenological and symmetry-based descriptions of the process dependence of the time-reversal-odd phenomena in QCD, such as the Sivers effect, with the goal of defining the essential elements that lead to such process dependence in QCD. This will then serve as a starting point to explore possible generalizations in a different gauge theory.

Inclusive jets and dynamical mass effects

In this talk we will outline the connections among the inclusive jet correlator, the single-hadron fragmentation correlator, and the quark propagator, which open the way to studies of fundamental mechanisms in QCD -such as the dynamical generation of mass- by looking at the fully inclusive hadronization of a quark. In particular, we will focus on observables in semi-inclusive DIS and e+e? annihilation at the twist three level.
