Complete Phase Transformation of Ir Nanowire Network into Defect-Rich Oxide Catalyst for High-Performance PEM Water Electrolysis

Iridium-based catalysts remain the most reliable option for the oxygen evolution reaction (OER) in proton exchange membrane water electrolyzers (PEMWEs). However, their high cost and limited performance represent critical barriers to the commercialization of this green hydrogen production technology. Herein, we report the creation of a metallic Ir nanowire network (IrNWN), which exhibits superior OER performance through its in-situ transition into an oxide structure with high intrinsic activity. At a low loading of 0.25 mgIr/cm2 in PEMWEs, IrNWN achieved a current density of 3.13 A/cm2 at a cell voltage of 1.8 V, outperforming the commercial Ir-based catalyst and surpassing the Department of Energy (DOE) 2026 technical target. Moreover, the high activity of IrNWN was maintained for 900 hours in a durability test at 2 A/cm2, showing a low degradation rate of 0.042 mV/hour. Structural analysis of the electrochemically oxidized IrNWN revealed the presence of mixed Ir oxidation states and a high density of surface terminal oxygen groups (μ1-O), which contributed to a reduced energy barrier for the rate-determining O-O coupling step.

π-Extension and chlorination of non-fullerene acceptors enable more readily processable and sustainable high-performance organic solar cells

Organic solar cells (OSCs) processed without halogenated solvents and complex treatments are essential for future commercialization. Herein, we report three novel small molecule acceptors (NFAs) consisting of a Y6-like core but with π-extended naphthalene with progressively more chlorinated end-capping groups and a longer branched chain on the Nitrogen atom. These NFAs exhibit good solubilities in non-chlorinated organic solvents, broad optical absorptions, close π-π stacking distances (3.63–3.84 Å), and high electron mobilities (~10 -3 cm 2 V -1 s -1 ). Further, the o-xylene processed and as-cast binary devices using PM6 as the donor polymer exhibit a PCE increasing upon progressive chlorination of the naphthalene end-capping group from 8.93% for YN to 14.38% for YN-Cl to 15.00% for YN-2Cl. Furthermore similarly processed ternary OSCs were fabricated by employing YN-Cl and YN-2Cl as the third component of PM6:CH1007 blends (PCE = 15.75%). Compared to all binary devices, the ternary PM6:CH1007:YN-Cl (1:1:0.2) and PM6:CH1007:YN-2Cl (1:1:0.2) cells exhibit significantly improved PCEs of 16.49% and 15.88%, respectively, which are among the highest values reported to date for non-halogenated solvent processed OSCs without using any additives and blend post-deposition treatments.

Precision bootstrap for the $\mathcal{N}$ = 1 super-Ising model

In this note we report an improved determination of the scaling dimensions and OPE coefficients of the minimal supersymmetric extension of the 3d Ising model using the conformal bootstrap. We also show how this data can be used as input to the Lorentzian inversion formula, finding good agreement between analytic calculations and numerical extremal spectra once mixing effects are resolved.

Highly stretchable organic electrochemical transistors with strain-resistant performance

Realizing fully stretchable electronic materials is central to advancing new types of mechanically agile and skin-integrable optoelectronic device technologies. Here we demonstrate a materials design concept combining an organic semiconductor film with a honeycomb porous structure with biaxially prestretched platform that enables high-performance organic electrochemical transistors with a charge transport stability over 30-140% tensional strain, limited only by metal contact fatigue. In this work, the prestretched honeycomb semiconductor channel of donor-acceptor polymer poly(2,5-bis(2-octyldodecyl)-3,6-di(thiophen-2-yl)-2,5-diketo-pyrrolopyrrole-alt-2,5-bis(3-triethyleneglycoloxy-thiophen-2-yl) exhibits high ion uptake and completely stable electrochemical and mechanical properties over 1,500 redox cycles with 10(4) stretching cycles under 30% strain. Invariant electrocardiogram recording cycles and synapse responses under varying strains, along with mechanical finite element analysis, underscore that the present stretchable organic electrochemical transistor design strategy is suitable for diverse applications requiring stable signal output under deformation with low power dissipation and mechanical robustness. Highly stretchable organic electrochemical transistors with stable charge transport under severe tensional strains are demonstrated using a honeycomb semiconducting polymer morphology, thereby enabling controllable signal output for diverse stretchable bioelectronic applications.
