Reggeization of the Pion Exchange in Pion Photoproduction

At high energies, the production of light mesons induced by a photon beam interacting with a nucleon target is governed by the exchange of Regge trajectories in the t-channel. In charge-exchange reactions at small momentum transfer, unnatural parity exchanges, such as pion exchange, dominate. The point-like nature of the photon–pion interaction makes the pion photoproduction reaction an excellent way to study the pion exchange mechanism. However, the nucleon Born terms are required to ensure that the scattering amplitude is gauge invariant. The gauge invariance of the pion exchange amplitude is crucial in approaching its reggeization properly. Here we discuss a novel strategy to reggeize the pion pole which considers explicitly the exchange in the t-channel of all the mesons in the pion trajectory. Each of these exchanges contributes with a pole in spin, known as a Regge pole, and we perform their summation analytically.

Physics with CEBAF at 12 GeV and future opportunities

Here, we summarize the ongoing scientific program of the 12 GeV Continuous Electron Beam Accelerator Facility (CEBAF) and give an outlook into future opportunities. The program addresses important topics in nuclear, hadronic, and electroweak physics, including nuclear femtography, meson and baryon spectroscopy, quarks and gluons in nuclei, precision tests of the standard model and dark sector searches. Potential upgrades of CEBAF and their impact on scientific reach are discussed, such as higher luminosity, the addition of polarized and unpolarized positron beams, and doubling the beam energy.

Scalar and tensor resonances in $J/\psi $ radiative decays

We perform a systematic analysis of the J/ψ → γπ 0 π 0 and → γ$K$$^{0}_{S}$$K$$^{0}_{S}$ partial waves measured by BESIII. We use a large set of amplitude parametrizations to reduce the model bias. We determine the physical properties of seven scalar and tensor resonances in the 1–2.5GeV mass range. These include the well known f 0 (1500) and f 0 (1710), that are considered to be the primary glueball candidates. The hierarchy of resonance couplings determined from this analysis favors the latter as the one with the largest glueball component.

$$\pi ^-p\rightarrow \eta ^{(\prime )}\, \pi ^- p$$ in the double-Regge region: Joint Physics Analysis Center

Abstract The production of $$\eta ^{(\prime )}\pi $$ η ( ′ ) π pairs constitutes one of the golden channels to search for hybrid exotics, with explicit gluonic degrees of freedom. Understanding the dynamics and backgrounds associated to $$\eta ^{(\prime )}\pi $$ η ( ′ ) π production above the resonance region is required to impose additional constraints to the resonance extraction. We consider the reaction $$\pi ^-p\rightarrow \eta ^{(\prime )} \pi ^- \,p$$ π - p → η ( ′ ) π - p measured by COMPASS. We show that the data in $$2.4< m_{\eta ^{(\prime )}\pi } < 3.0{\mathrm {\,GeV}} $$ 2.4 < m η ( ′ ) π < 3.0 GeV can be described by amplitudes based on double-Regge exchanges. The angular distribution of the meson pairs, in particular in the $$\eta ' \pi $$ η ′ π channel, can be attributed to flavor singlet exchanges, suggesting the presence of a large gluon content that couples strongly to the produced mesons.
