DSN command system Mark IV-85

A functional description of the Deep Space Network Command System and its subsystem is presented. The DSP command system was implemented in 1986. Store and forward command functions are reviewed. Throughput command functions for Earth orbiter missions and subsystems configurations for Mark IV-85 system are summarized.

DSN Command System Mark IV-85

A functional description of command subsystem software modifications providing computer-controlled prepass data transfer, validation tests, and revised displays are described. The Mark 4-A implementation schedule is presented and subsystems configurations for the Mark 4-85 system summarized.

DSN command system

Modification of the currently operational DSN Command System MK 3-80 consisted of improvement of the uplink carrier frequency tuning capability to satisfy Voyager 2 requirements. Upgrading of Command System monitoring functions in the Network Operations Control Center is discussed. The DSN Command System requirements and functional design are described for the Mark 4 Network.

DSN command system Mark III-80

The Deep Space Network command system configuration and functional operation are described. Voyager and Helios command operations are supported with Deep Space Station store and forward data handling; Viking and Pioneer are supported with the older, near real time data handling method.

DSN command system Mark 3-78

The Deep Space Network Command System Mark III-78 implementation and functional operation are described. Software upgrade enables expanded storage capacity in the Deep Space Station Command Processor Assembly. Store-and-forward command data handling is operational for Voyager and Helios. Near-real-time command data handling was retained for Viking and Pioneer.

Evaluation of DSN data processing with 7200-b/s GCF high-speed data interfaces

Test results confirm that the Deep Space Station (DSS) and Network Operations Control Center (NOCC) processing of telemetry, command, radio metric, and monitor data with the existing DSN Mark III-75 configuration will be unaffected by the recent change of the Ground Communications Facility (GCF) high-speed data subsystem to a clock rate of 7,200 bits per second.
