Evaluating Long and Short Duration Energy Storage in MISO in Deep Decarbonization Scenarios

Presentation made at the 41st North American Conference held by USAEE/IAEE, November 3-6, 2024, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The presentation shows the results of evaluating long and short duration energy storage in MISO in deep decarbonization scenarios using the SCORE tool. The results show the costs of various energy storage technologies and compare short term storage to long term storage, along with other economic impacts.

Quality Guidelines for Energy System Studies: Fuel Prices for Selected Feedstocks in NETL Studies

The purpose of this document is to develop feedstock price values to be used in the United States (U.S.) Department of Energy’s (DOE) National Energy Technology Laboratory (NETL) energy systems studies. This version of the QGESS incorporates electricity and biomass fuel costs and updates and expands the coal and natural gas costs.

Technology in Focus: Power-to-X

Power-to-X is the process that converts electricity into energy carriers that can be used in industries and applications not connected to the electricity grid. By creating a product with direct process connected generation, contracted generation, or grid-delivered electricity that is in excess of current demand, production of electricity can be managed to time arbitrage energy and mitigate generation curtailment or inefficient operational reductions. In addition, creating a product potentially develops a secondary revenue stream that aids economics of the facility. This document is a high-level factsheet that provides an overview of what Power-to-X is and what it means.
