The LANL Interactive Display (LID) is an interactive touchscreen with a custom-built application designed to provide a geographic-based, virtual tour of the Laboratory’s organizations, facilities, programs, products, and capabilities. The Display is mounted on a portable stand and displayed in the classified vault of the Forrestal Building in Washington, D.C. The October 2023 updates include the latest inputs, including the addition of Nuclear Security Enterprise (NSE) information. Other major upgrades are detailed below.
A robust and growing modeling effort supports Los Alamos weapons leadership as well as NNSA (NA18, NA12, NA19) and DoD (DASD-NM, USSTRATCOM). Current work are valuable to several key NNSA working groups supporting strategic planning: Stockpile Stewardship Management Plan (SSMP); Requirements & Planning Document (RPD) analysis; Requirements and Capacity Working Group (RCWG); Production Integration Collaboration Working Group (PICWG); Enterprise Modeling and Analysis Consortium (EMAC); Cost Estimating Analysis Group (CEAG).
The LANL Interactive Display (LID) provides a geographic-based virtual tour of the Laboratory highlighting information on cost, workforce, and facilities for each of the Laboratory’s organizations, capabilities, and programs. The tool can map laboratory business (organization, program, capability) onto the geographic base view, allowing users to explore the full breadth of work at LANL at the touch of a screen. The Display blends the visual location of the laboratory’s infrastructure with assets such as workforce, funding, and equipment for the $4B LANL enterprise.
The Staffing Analyses Tool is an interactive resource planning tool used for visualizing programmatic staffing financial information. This dashboard provides historical and current staff charging data under organizations’ and/or programs’ views. This tool is used to manage staffing cost and inform outyear planning. It was developed in collaboration with Associate Laboratory Directorate for Infrastructure and Capital Projects (ALDICP) Planning Office.
The Pajarito Corridor Office Space Management tool is a reference used to assess and inform the management of the current portfolio of workstations and office space planning along the Pajarito Corridor. This work is in collaboration with the Associate Laboratory Directorate for Weapons Production (ALDWP)/Strategic Planning Office.
The Los Alamos Enterprise Analysis and Data System (LEADS) is an integrated database system and analysis application used to examine the Laboratory’s assets and equities. The data mapping framework is structured to follow laboratory organizations, programs, geographical technical areas, and other functional groupings, such as facilities and equipment. LEADS application goal is to quantify the size and information related to the current condition of assets and equities. The data and inter-dependent relationships allow for insights and further analyses to be conducted of current program-of-records, the laboratory agenda, and “what-if” scenario studies. The understanding and the outputs of this application will support understanding of the laboratory’s current state, planning, and decision-making processes.
The High Explosives and Energetics (HE&E) Asset Analysis Tool is a database and reference for LANL facilities, equipment, staffing and financial information pertinent to the HE&E program. The tool is used for the communication of the current state and investment planning for the program assets. Additional analyses can offer more insights into the dependencies and impacts of the assets within the HE&E portfolio. This tool is developed under collaboration with the HE&E Program Office.
The LANL Workforce Reporting Tool compiles and analyzes workforce demographics and attributes as presented in the annual Stockpile and Stewardship Management Plan (SSMP) over FY15-21 using MicroStrategy, a data analytics and visualization software. There are three major employee populations included in the tool: 1) LANL’s regular (permanent) employees; 2) LANL’s entire workforce (regular, craft, contractors, students, post doctorate students, limited term employees, and lab associates); 3) The Nuclear Security Enterprise’s (NSE) permanent career employees (combined and site-by-site).
