Pseudo noise test set operation manual

Pseudonoise (PN) test set was designed to provide a reliable, operationally simple unit which allows the previously mentioned analog rms end-to-end error measurement of most communication systems to be easily performed. It also provides a band-limited pseudorandom noise as input, thereby escaping the disadvantages of most deterministic signals while retaining the advantages of using true-band-limited noise. In addition, the PN test set has the capability to be used as a means with which the autocorrelation function and impulse response may be determined for certain systems.

Design study of a HEAO-C spread spectrum transponder telemetry system for use with the TDRSS subnet

The results of a design study of a spread spectrum transponder for use on the HEAO-C satellite were given. The transponder performs the functions of code turn-around for ground range and range-rate determination, ground command receiver, and telemetry data transmitter. The spacecraft transponder and associated communication system components will allow the HEAO-C satellite to utilize the Tracking and Data Relay Satellite System (TDRSS) subnet of the post 1978 STDN. The following areas were discussed in the report: TDRSS Subnet Description, TDRSS-HEAO-C System Configuration, Gold Code Generator, Convolutional Encoder Design and Decoder Algorithm, High Speed Sequence Generators, Statistical Evaluation of Candidate Code Sequences using Amplitude and Phase Moments, Code and Carrier Phase Lock Loops, Total Spread Spectrum Transponder System, and Reference Literature Search.

Analysis of the proposed utilization of TDRS system by the HEAO-C satellite

The primary function of the study was to assess the impact upon the HEAO telecommunications system of the proposed relay satellite-to-ground-link configuration. The system is designed to perform the function of most of the NASA ground tracking and communications network at a net cost savings for NASA.

Design procedure for improved active filters

Synthesis technique for active filters gives high degree of accuracy for frequencies as high as 500 kHz and covers frequencies most used for telemetry. Frequency response can be realized within few percent of specified cutoff frequencies without need for tuning.
