Evidence for the singly Cabibbo-suppressed decay Ω 0 c → Ξ¯π + and search for Ω 0 c → Ξ¯ K + and Ω¯K + decays at Belle

Using a data sample of 980 fb -1 collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e + e - collider, we study for the first time the singly Cabibbo-suppressed decays Ω 0 c → Ξ¯π + and Ω¯K + and the doubly Cabibbo-suppressed decay Ω 0 c → Ξ¯ K + . Evidence for an Ω 0 c signal in the Ω 0 c → Ξ¯π + mode is reported with a significance of 4.5σ including systematic uncertainties.

Measurement of R = σ L / σ T and the separated longitudinal and transverse structure functions in the nucleon-resonance region

Here we report on a detailed study of longitudinal strength in the nucleon resonance region, presenting new results from inclusive electron-proton cross sections measured at Jefferson Lab Hall C in the four-momentum transfer range 0.2 < Q 2 < 5.5 GeV 2 . The data have been used to accurately perform over 170 Rosenbluth-type longitudinal/transverse separations. The precision R = $\sigma_{L} /\sigma _{T}$ data are presented here, along with the first separate values of the inelastic structure functions F 1 and F L in this regime. The resonance longitudinal component is found to be significant. With the new data, quark-hadron duality is observed above Q 2 = 1 GeV 2 in the separated structure functions independently.

Scintillation yield from electronic and nuclear recoils in superfluid He 4

Superfluid $^4$He is a promising target material for direct detection of light ($<$ 1 GeV) dark matter. Possible signal channels available for readout in this medium include prompt photons, triplet excimers, and roton and phonon quasiparticles. The relative yield of these signals has implications for the sensitivity and discrimination power of a superfluid $^4$He dark matter detector. Using a 16~cm$^3$ volume of 1.75~K superfluid $^4$He read out by six immersed photomultiplier tubes, we measured the scintillation from electronic recoils ranging between 36.3 and 185~keV$_\mathrm{ee}$, yielding a mean signal size of $1.25^{+0.03}_{-0.03}$~phe/keV$_\mathrm{ee}$, and nuclear recoils from 53.2 to 1090~keV$_\mathrm{nr}$. We compare the results of our relative scintillation yield measurements to an existing semiempirical model based on helium-helium and electron-helium interaction cross sections. As a result, we also study the behavior of delayed scintillation components as a function of recoil type and energy, a further avenue for signal discrimination in superfluid $^4$He.

Measurement of the EMC effect in light and heavy nuclei

In this work, inclusive electron scattering from nuclear targets has been measured to extract the nuclear dependence of the inelastic cross section in Hall C at the Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator facility. Results are presented for 2 H, 3 He, 4 He, 9 B, 12 C, 63 Cu and 197 Au at an incident electron beam energy of 5.77 GeV for a range of momentum transfer from Q 2 = 2 to 7 (GeV/c) 2 . These data improve the precision of the existing measurements of the EMC effect in the nuclear targets at large x, and allow for more detailed examinations of the A dependence of the EMC effect.

Spectroscopy of A=9 hyperlithium with the $(e,e^{\prime}K^{+})$ reaction

Missing mass spectroscopy with the $(e,e^{\prime}K^{+})$ reaction was performed at JLab Hall C for the neutron rich $\Lambda$ hypernucleus $^{9}_{\Lambda}{\rm Li}$. The ground state energy was obtained to be $B_{\Lambda}^{\rm g.s.}=8.84\pm0.17^{\rm stat.}\pm0.15^{\rm sys.}~{\rm MeV}$ by using shell model calculations of a cross section ratio and an energy separation of the spin doublet states ($3/2^{+}_1$ and $5/2^{+}_1$). In addition, peaks that are considered to be states of [$^{8}{\rm Li}(3^{+})\otimes s_{\Lambda}=3/2^{+}_{2}, 1/2^{+}$] and [$^{8}{\rm Li}(1^{+})\otimes s_{\Lambda}=5/2^{+}_{2}, 7/2^{+}$] were observed at $E_{\Lambda}(\#2)=1.74\pm0.27^{\rm stat.}\pm0.11^{\rm sys.}~{\rm MeV}$ and $E_{\Lambda}(\#3)=3.30\pm0.24^{\rm stat.}\pm0.11^{\rm sys.}~{\rm MeV}$, respectively. The $E_{\Lambda}(\#3)$ is larger than shell model predictions by a few hundred keV, and the difference would indicate that a ${\rm ^{5}He}+t$ structure is more developed for the $3^{+}$ state than those for the $2^{+}$ and $1^{+}$ states in a core nucleus $^{8}{\rm Li}$ as a cluster model calculation suggests.

TracKlinic: Diagnosis of Challenge Factors in Visual Tracking

Generic visual object tracking is difficult due to many challenge factors (e.g., occlusion, blur, etc.). Each of these factors may cause serious problems for a tracker, and when they work together can make things even more complicated. Despite a great amount of efforts devoted to understanding the behavior of trackers, reliable and quantifiable ways for studying the per factor tracking behavior remain barely available. Addressing this issue, in this paper we contribute to the community a tracking diagnosis toolkit, TracKlinic, for diagnosis of challenge factors of tracking algorithms. TracKlinic consists of two novel components focusing on the data and analysis aspects, respectively. For the data component, we carefully prepare a set of 2,390 annotated videos, each involving one and only one major challenge factor. When analyzing an algorithm for a specific challenge factor, such one-factor-per-sequence rule greatly inhibits the disturbance from other factors and consequently leads to more faithful analysis. For the analysis component, given the tracking results on all sequences, it investigates the behavior of the tracker under each individual factor and generates the report automatically. With TracKlinic, a thorough study is conducted on ten state-of-the-art trackers on nine challenge factors (including two compound ones). The results suggest that, heavy shape variation and occlusion are the two most challenging factors faced by most trackers. Besides, out-of-view, though does not happen frequently, is often fatal. By sharing TracKlinic1, we expect to make it much easier for diagnosing tracking algorithms, and to thus facilitate developing better ones.
