Plasma waves artificially induced in the ionosphere.
Abstract
Calculations of the growth of instabilities generated by a 40-kev, 0.1-amp electron beam fired perpendicular to the magnetic field in the earth's ionosphere are presented. In general, the amount of growth is small. These calculations were made to predict the results of a University of Minnesota experiment and are consistent with the observations.
