Diffuse galactic emission
Abstract
A very large portion of the observed diffuse X-ray intensity below 1 keV is of galactic origin. Observational evidence indicates that the radiation is truly diffuse, is from interstellar gas near 1 million K that is overpressured relative to the nominal interstellar pressure, and is probably from regions close to the solar system.
