The middle atmosphere
Abstract
A quick introduction to some of the important electrical properties, and to the factors that influence them and their variability are provided. The following topics are discussed: (1) production of ionization; (2) ion concentration; (3) ion composition; and (4) variability of the various sources of middle atmospheric ionization.
