The compositional-petrographic search for pristine nonmare rocks - Third foray
Abstract
In the present paper, eleven nonmare samples are characterized petrographically and by composition, including numerous key trace elements (siderophiles and incompatibles). At least eight of the samples were identified as positively pristine, which means that they preserve faithfully the compositional variety of the original lunar crust. Anorthosites, troctolites, and norites appear to be the major 'primary' constituents of the crust.
