The study of cometary plasmas using artificial comets launched from the space shuttle
Abstract
The agents responsible for observed (transient) cometary phenomena are solar radiation and solar wind. The evaporation of cometary snows and the dissociation and ionization of the resulting gas molecules are discussed.
