The West Coast Experiment - An overview

Abstract

The West Coast Experiment was conducted in the Southern California Bight during March-April 1977 for the purpose of investigating the mesoscale variability of waves, wind, and surface temperature and to demonstrate the validity and level of usefulness of airborne remote sensing techniques in the investigation of oceanographic processes. This paper presents the large-scale view of the West Coast Experiment and provides a summary of the major results.
