Pull Test Verifies Gap Loading

Abstract

Thin plastic strip pulled away from gap by force gage to measure pressure applied on gap filler. Force necessary to initiate movement of thin plastic strip is measure of gap tightness. Procedure determines interface pressures or loads where conventional load-measuring equipment cannot be used. Used to check refrigerator-door seals.
