Spaceborne Gravity Gradiometers. Part 4: Common problems

Abstract

Important issues and possible solutions in the development of gravity gradiometers are examined with emphasis on problems related to: (1) sensors (both) conventional and cryogenic; (2) laboratory, spacecraft environment, and orbital flight tests; (3) spacecraft design (attitude and vibration control, propulsion and tether systems, and cryogenic systems); and (4) on-board and ground data processing.
