Prochloron
Abstract
A review is given of the research problems associated with Prochloron. Two questions are discussed in detail. Did prochlorophytes arise in independently off cyanophytes, or did one of these classes arise from the other? If eukaryotic chlorophytes originated by symbiogenesis, might their plastids have arisen from symbiotic, endophytic prochlorophyte-like ancestors?
