Nonlinear analysis using temporal finite elements
Abstract
A formulation method, based on Hamilton's law of varying action, for finite elements in space and time incorporating nonlinear geometric and material behavior is presented. Case studies using elastic-plastic axial rod elements are carried out to demonstrate the accuracy, convergence and generality of the method.
