Auroral energy deposition rate
Abstract
Processes that lead to energy deposition by externally imposed electric fields and by energetic particle precipitation are described and the consequences on the atmosphere and ionosphere are examined. The importance of global observations is emphasized and current shortcomings of available measurements are noted.
