Determining Ocean Windspeed By Satellite Radar Altimetry
Abstract
Measurements of ocean surface by satellite radar altimetry converted to more-accurate estimates of surface windspeed by use of improved algorithm that contains empirical mathematical model. Derived from studies of empirical radar-altimetric and buoy wind and wave measurements. Accounts better for degree of development of waves.
