VIlRS Polarization Re-Testing

Abstract

The VIIRS instrument's polarization sensitivity, for the VIS/NIR bands will be measured again to reduce the uncertainties associated with the initial degree of linear polarization and associated phase measurements. In preparation for this re-test, work at Goddard and Raytheon is ongoing aimed at understanding the limitations of the test equipment, specifically a large spherical integrating sphere, and the sheet polarizes and effects of straylight. The results of the Goddard preliminary tests and ground support equipment characterizations will be presented.
