UAS operate today under many restrictions - Certificate of Authorization or Waiver (COA) for public use - Experimental certificate for civil use - Goal is to move toward more routine access UAS span a wide range of size and performance - Small UAS (<55 lbs.) will be covered by separate rulemaking - Our research interest is in larger UAS, interacting with air traffic services in non-segregated airspace
