Materials Characterization Using X-Ray Diffraction

Abstract

This talk for the Spring Meeting of the Ohio Section of the American Association of Physics Teachers begins with a brief description of what X-Ray diffraction is, and relates 2D diffraction (grating equation) to 3D (Bragg’s law). Various examples of how XRD can be used to answer a variety of materials science questions will be discussed along with some of how XRD has been used at NASA Glenn.
