Materials Data on U2Cl5O2 by Materials Project
Abstract
U2O2Cl5 crystallizes in the orthorhombic Cmmm space group. The structure is three-dimensional. U+4.50+ is bonded to two equivalent O2- and five Cl1- atoms to form a mixture of distorted corner and edge-sharing UCl5O2 pentagonal bipyramids. Both U–O bond lengths are 2.07 Å. There are two shorter (2.74 Å) and three longer (2.77 Å) U–Cl bond lengths. O2- is bonded in a linear geometry to two equivalent U+4.50+ atoms. There are two inequivalent Cl1- sites. In the first Cl1- site, Cl1- is bonded in a water-like geometry to two equivalent U+4.50+ atoms. In the second Cl1- site, Cl1- is bonded in a linear geometry to two equivalent U+4.50+ atoms.
